πŸ“– Comprehensive Note

The mitochondria are known as the powerhouse of the cell because they produce ATP (energy). They are double-membrane bound, sausage-shaped organelles found in nearly all eukaryotic cells. The inner membrane folds into cristae, while the outer membrane encloses it fully.

Inside, the matrix holds enzymes and DNA for aerobic respiration. They play a central role in breaking down glucose into ATP. In many organisms, mitochondria are maternally inherited.

🎀 Lyrics + Audio

Verse 1
Mitochondria
are called the powerhouses
of the cell as they produce
energy-rich molecules
for the cell
The mitochondria
genome is inherited
maternally in several
organisms, yeah yeahhhhh.

Chorus
Mitochondria,
the power inside,
turnin’ my food to energy we ride.
ATP flowin' cells come alive
Powerhose of life, yeah, we survive

Verse 2
It is a double membrane-bound,
sausage-shaped organelle,
found in almost all eukaryotic cells
yeah uh uhhhhhh
The double membrane
divide its lumen into two
distinct aqueous
compartments which are uh uh yeah
The inner compartment
called a β€˜matrix’ which is
folded into cristae,
and the outer membrane
form a continous boundary
with the cytoplasm

Chorus
Mitochondria,
the power inside...

Mitochondria are the sites
of aerobic respiration in
the cell, produces energy
in the form of ATP and
helps in the transformation
of the molecule

Chorus
Mitochondria,
the power inside,

Glucose is converted
into adenosine triphosphate – ATP.
