Chromatography is a set of laboratory techniques used to separate mixtures into individual components by exploiting differences in how components move with a mobile phase relative to a stationary phase.
- Mobile phase: the solvent or gas that moves through the system.
- Stationary phase: paper, a thin layer on a plate, or a column packing that stays fixed.
- Types: paper chromatography, TLC (thin-layer chromatography), gas chromatography, column chromatography, etc.
